CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – University of Virginia men’s soccer player Alecko Eskandarian (Montvale, N.J./Bergen Catholic) was named the Atlantic Coast Conference Player of the Week for his efforts after leading the Cavaliers to a 2-0 record and a tournament title in the 2000 Virginia Soccer Classic (Sept. 1-3).
Eskandarian was instrumental in guiding UVa to a 3-2 victory over South Florida (Sept. 1) in a game where he scored his first collegiate goal in his UVa debut, before erupting for two goals and an assist in Virginia’s 7-1 rout over Jacksonville on September 3rd.
Eskandarian only played 83 of a possible 180 minutes in the tournament and entered both contests from the bench. He currently leads UVa in scoring (seven points), goals scored (three) and is third on the team with one assist.
