CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – University of Virginia men’s soccer player Ryan Gibbs (West Chester, Pa./East) was named the Atlantic Coast Conference Co-Player of the Week after helping the Cavaliers post a 2-0 record with a 4-1 victory over Northeastern (9/13) and a 2-0 shutout victory over Wake Forest (9/16). Gibbs shared this weeks honor with Duke’s Ali Curtis.
Gibbs, a sophomore forward for UVa, scored both of Virginia’s goals in its 2-0 road victory over the No. 5 Wake Forest Demon Deacons. He came off the bench to start the second half of play and scored the game-winning goal just 2:26 second into the half.
Gibbs joins teammate Alecko Eskandarian (Montvale, NJ/Bergen Catholic) as Virginia’s ACC Player of the Week selections this season. Eskandarian gathered the honor for the week of September 4th.
