WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The No. 35 Virginia men’s tennis team kicks off its 2001 Spring season Friday (Jan. 19) at the ACC Coaches’ Indoor Men’s Tennis Championship. Six Cavaliers will compete in the singles portion of the draw, while three doubles teams will play in the doubles draw.
First-year Gregg Alpert (Englewood, Colo./ Cherry Creek), second-year Michael Duquette (Virginia Beach, Va./ Norfolk Academy), third-years Jason Romesburg (Waynesboro, Va./ Waynesboro) and Jonathan Chou (Newport News, Va./ Hampton Roads Academy), and fourth-years Tommy Croker (Alexandria, Va./ St. Stephens) and Brian Hunter (Chapel Hill, N.C./ Chapel Hill), play first round matches on Friday morning.
Meanwhile, Croker and Hunter will team up for a first round doubles match, as will Alpert and Romesburg. Chou and Duquette received a first-round bye.
