TODAY’S GAME
Virginia enters today’s game against Wake Forest with a 13-8 overallrecord. The Cavaliers are currently ranked No. 24 in the USA Today/ESPNpoll. Virginia’s Atlantic Coast Conference record dropped to 4-4 with a 60-58loss at Florida State on January 24. The Cavaliers have lost their last three ACCcontests and four of their last six games.

Wake Forest enters the game with an 11-8 overall record and a 3-5mark in the ACC. The Demon Deacons currently have a two-game winningstreak. Wake Forest has an 8-3 record against non-conference opponents andhas defeated ACC foes Georgia Tech (79-71), North Carolina (73-71), andFlorida State (79-69).

Today’s game marks the 50th meeting between the two teams andVirginia leads the series, 48-1. The Cavaliers have won the last 46 games in theseries. Wake Forest’s only victory in the series was on January 13, 1978, whenthe Demon Deacons defeated Virginia, 60-59, in Charlottesville, Va.

SCOUTING WAKE FOREST
The Demon Deacons enter today’s game with an 11-8 overall recordand a 3-5 mark in the ACC. Wake Forest currently has a two-game winningstreak after defeating Georgia Tech (79-71) on January 25. The DemonDeacon’s other ACC victories were against North Carolina (73-71) and FloridaState (79-69). Three players are averaging double figures in scoring for WakeForest. Senior guard Kristen Shaffer is Wake Forest’s leading scorer with anaverage of 11.1 points per game, followed by freshman forward Eafton Hill(10.8), and senior forward Brenda Kirkpatrick (10.4). Hill is the leadingrebounder with 5.9 per game and is third in the ACC with 1.2 blocked shots pergame. Charlene Curtis, currently in her fourth year as the head coach at WakeForest, has led the Demon Deacons to a 30-72 record.

CAVALIERS vs. DEMON DEACONS
Virginia and Wake Forest have played 49 games and the Cavaliershave a 48-1 advantage in the series. The Cavaliers defeated the DemonDeacons, 77-61, on December 9 in the first meeting this season. Wake Forest’sonly victory in the series was on January 13, 1978, when the Demon Deaconsdefeated Virginia, 60-59, in Charlottesville, Va.
