CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – University of Virginia baseball player Hunter Wyant (White Hall, Va./Western Albemarle) was named the Atlantic Coast Conference Co-Player of the Week after leading UVa to a 5-1 record. He shared the honor with Wake Forest’s Cory Sullivan.

Wyant, a fourth-year short stop, had an incredible week after going 15-22 (.682) at the plate with 12 RBI, 11 runs scored, four triples, three doubles, one home run and two stolen bases. Included in his outstanding week of performances, Wyant became the first player known in Virginia baseball history to hit for the cycle when he accomplished the feat in UVa’s 18-7 victory against High Point on March 12th. In that game, Wyant went 4-5 with five RBI and three runs scored after he hit a double in his first at-bat, a home run in his second appearance, a triple in his third trip to the plate and a single in his fourth batting appearance of the game.

For the season, Wyant is batting .382 and leads Virginia with 34 hits, 25 runs, five triples and a .685 slugging percentage. Wyant’s five triples also leads the ACC. He is second on UVa with 21 RBI, eight doubles, three home runs and 47 assists. Wyant has started all 21 games for the Cavaliers and is a perfect 4-4 in stolen base attempts this season.
