Virginia’s Golf Team In 15th Place At Morris Williams Intercollegiate

AUSTIN, TX – The University of Virginia men’s golf team is in 15th place after the first day of competition at the Cleveland Golf Morris Williams Intercollegiate at the Austin Country Club in Austin, TX. Georgia Tech has a one-shot lead after 36 holes at the par-72, 6,906-yard course with a two-round score of 573 (281-292). Oklahoma State is second (574), and Oklahoma (576), Texas (577), and Pepperdine (578) round out the top five teams. The Cavaliers are 15th after two rounds with a 32-over-par 608.

Georgia Tech’s Bryce Molder leads the tournament after finishing the first day at nine-under-par 135 with rounds of 67 and 68. Leading the way for Virginia is junior Steve Marino, who is currently tied for 21st with a score of two-over-par 146. Freshman Kevin O’Connell has a two-round total of 153 (72, 81) and is tied for 62nd place. Freshman Rusty Kennedy is tied for 66th place with a two-round total of 154 (79, 75). Rounding out the Virginia players are seniors Cameron Yancey (80-75-155) and Mike Mitchell (83-95-178) .
