Inge Jorgensen (New WIlmington, Pa./Wilmington) finished fourth in the javelin competition at the NCAA Championships last night, earning her All-American status for the first time in her career. Her toss of 51.21m (168′ 00″) was just 10 centimeters short of the second-place finisher. Jorgensen is the third Cavalier this season to earn All-American honors, and all three earned the honor in the javelin competition. She joins Brian Kollar and John Welch from the men’s squad who finished sixth and seventh, respectively, on Tuesday.
Two other Cavaliers also competed in the NCAA Championships for the women’s team. Dana Coons (Vienna, Va./James Madison) finished 16th in the 10000-meter run with a time of 36:30.67, and Kiamesha Otey (Quinton, Va./Kent) was 6th in her heat of the 100-meter dash in the qualifying rounds.
