CHARLOTTESVILLE – Dr. Wood Selig, former associate athletic director for external operations at the University of Virginia, is one of three winners of the annual H.S. Warwick Research Awards announced recently by the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE).
Selig, now the director of athletics at Western Kentucky University, will receive the Outstanding Doctoral Dissertation Award at the CASE International Assembly in San Francisco on July 1. He is being honored for his dissertation titled “A Study of Donor Predictability Among Alumni Athletes at the University of Virginia.” The study explores the patterns of giving among UVa’s alumni athletes.
Selig was a member of the athletic administration at Virginia for 11 years. He was named director of athletics at Western Kentucky in August of 1999.
The H.S. Warwick Research Awards are named in honor of Herbert S. Warwick, the first full-time alumni secretary at Ohio State University and founder in 1913 of the Association of Alumni Secretaries, one of CASE’s predecessor organizations. The awards are presented for outstanding writing about alumni relations.
