CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA – The University of Virginia women’s basketball 2001-02 schedule will feature 27 regular season games, including 16 Atlantic Coast Conference contests. The schedule will feature 13 teams that participated in the 2001 NCAA Tournament. Virginia will play its first two regular season games on the road. The Cavaliers will open the season at Hampton University (Nov. 16) and will travel to the University of Richmond (Nov. 19).
Virginia will play 14 home games, with the opener against Liberty University (Nov. 20). The Cavaliers will play eight games against ACC opponents at home and will also face non-conference opponents Howard University (Nov. 26), Virginia Tech (Nov. 29), U.C. Santa Barbara (Dec. 2), Ohio State (Dec. 18), and Florida International (Dec. 20) at University Hall.
In addition to eight ACC games, the Cavaliers’ road schedule will feature a trip to Rutgers University (Nov. 24) and an appearance in the Tulane Christmas Tournament (Dec. 28-29) in New Orleans, La. Tulane, Long Island University, and Stephen F. Austin will compete in the tournament. The Atlantic Coast Conference Tournament is scheduled for March 1-4 in Greensboro, N.C.
