Women’s Soccer Predicted To Finish In Second Place In ACC Preseason Coaches Poll

Two weeks prior to the start of its 2001 season, the Virginia women’s soccer team has been predicted to finish second in the annual ACC preseason coaches poll.

Only defending National Champion North Carolina finished ahead of Virginia, collecting a total of 63 points. The Cavaliers finished with a total of 51 points in the voting, edging out 2000 ACC regular season champion Clemson by two points.

The Cavaliers start their 2001 season with a pair of exhibition games next week. They take on Oakland in Traverse City, Mich., on Wed., Aug. 22, followed by a trip to Ann Arbor, Mich., to take on Michigan on Aug. 24. The regular season starts on Sept. 1, with a home game against Mississippi.
