The Virginia hockey team (10-5) fell 3-0 today to ACC-rival Wake Forest (10-3) in Winston-Salem. After the Cavaliers forced the first corner of the game, the Demon Deacons took 12 shots to the Cavaliers’ six in the first half and led 2-0 at the break. In the second half, the Hoos allowed only four shots but the Demon Deacons capitalized on them, scoring once more to take the 3-0 victory.

Kelly Dostal scored the opening two goals for Wake Forest, notching the first on an unassisted shot ten minutes into the game. Two minutes later, she hit the second on a tip of a crossing pass fro Jennie Shelton. In the second half, Kelly Doton crashed the keeper’s pads and put in another pass from Shelton, giving the Demon Deacons the 3-0 lead they would not relinquish.

Virginia travels to Washington, D.C. on Wednesday, Oct. 24 to face the Hoyas of Georgetown. They will travel from there to Chapel Hill, N.C. to play the North Carolina Tar Heels on Thursday, Oct. 25, in a rescheduled game.
