Charlottesville, Va. – Punter Mike Abrams was named the Atlantic Coast Conference Specialist of the Week for his play in the Cavaliers’ game against Florida State last Saturday (Oct. 20).
Abrams, a senior from Aiken, S.C., averaged 43.9 yards on his seven punts against the nationally-ranked Seminoles. He boomed one punt 67 yards, the longest punt in the ACC this season, that was downed at the FSU 16-yard line. Abrams also had a 54-yarder and a 49-yarder to force the Seminoles to start drives in their own territory.
He is second in the ACC in punting this season with a 43.2-yard average. His ability to limit returns has enabled the Cavaliers to rank eighth in the nation with a 39.81 net average.
The Cavaliers travel to Raleigh, N.C., to face the N.C. State Wolfpack this Saturday (Oct. 27) at 1:30 p.m.
