Chapel Hill, N.C. – The Virginia men’s tennis team closed out action at the ITA Region II Championships in Chapel Hill, N.C.
On Friday, in singles action, Michael Duquette lost a 6-4, 7-5 decision to East Tennessee State’s Pablo Sahugan. Sahugan, a native of Mexico, in addition to being one of the big names on the collegiate level is one of the top players in the world.
In doubles action, in the main draw, Duqutte and Stephen Nolen made it to the round of 16. After knocking off the fifth-seeded duo of Appalachian State’s Bruno Coelho and Liberty’s Ricardo Shinozaki, Duquette and Nolen dropped an 8-4 decision in the round of 16 main draw to James Madison’s Andrew Lux and Troy Stone.
Next up for the men’s tennis team will be a trip to Blacksburg, Va., for three days as they compete at the Virginia State Championships, starting Nov. 8.
