UVa Women's Swimmers Win Four Events At Rice Invitational

HOUSTON, Texas – The 12th-ranked University of Virginia women’s swimming team won four of 13 events at the non-scoring Rice Invitational Saturday (November 10) at Rice Pool. Third-year first-team All-American Mirjana Bosevska (Skopje, Macedonia/Trinity Prep) won a pair of events, while fourth-year All-American Megan Roesch (Columbia, Md./Wilde Lake) and first-year Andrea Georoff (Winter Park, Fla./Trinity Prep) also earned wins.
Bosevska won the 200 individual medley with a time of 2:04.48, which met the NCAA “B” qualifying standard and also clocked a time of 2:04.29 to win the 200 butterfly. Roesch won the 200 freestyle in 1:53.65, while Georoff took the 100 butterfly with a time of 57.83.
UVa second-year All-American Carlie Dykehouse (Gainesville, Fla./Trinity Prep) was the runner-up in the 500 free with a time of 5:01.23. Dykehouse was also fifth in the 100 fly in a time of 58.72, while first-year Carrie Ellis (Valrico, Fla./Durant) took fourth place in the 50 free as she touched in 24.65 seconds.
The Virginia women’s and men’s swimming and diving teams return to action on Sunday, November 18 when they host Penn State at the UVa Aquatic and Fitness Center. The meet is scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m.
