Virginia's Anderson and Bosevska Earn ACC Weekly Honor

GREENSBORO, N.C. – University of Virginia swimmers Luke Anderson (Charlottesville, Va./Bolles School) and Mirjana Bosevska (Skopje, Macedonia/Trinity Prep) have been selected as the Atlantic Coast Conference Men’s and Women’s Swimmers of the Week, respectively. Bosevska earns the award for the second time this season, while Anderson garners the honor for the first time this season and third time in two years. Anderson and Bosevska led the UVa swimming and diving teams to the titles of the Cavalier Invitational, which was held November 29 through December 1 at the UVa Aquatic and Fitness Center.
Anderson, a second-year All-American, participated in seven events in the Cavalier Invitational and finished first in every one. He was a member of two meet record setting relay teams and also set a meet record in the 50 free. Anderson swam the leadoff leg on UVa’s winning 200 free relay team that posted a meet record time of 1:21.89 and he also set the Cavalier Invitational record for the 50 free with his split of 20.26 seconds in the 200 free relay. The third meet record came in the 400 free relay as the Cavaliers posted a time of 3:01.23. Anderson also swam on the winning 400 medley relay (3:21.65) and 800 free relay (6:41.08) teams.
Anderson met the NCAA “B” qualifying standard in winning the 100 free (44.10 in the prelims and 44.17 in the finals) and 200 free (1:37.72 in the prelims and 1:38.20 in the finals). He also won the 100 breaststroke (56.61). Anderson holds the top times in the ACC this season in the 50, 100 and 200 free. UVa holds the ACC’s top times in the 200 and 400 free relays and 400 medley relay.
Bosevska, a third-year first-team All-American, won four individual events and also swam on UVa’s winning 800 free relay, in leading Virginia to the title of the Cavalier Invitational. Bosevska, who earned her second ACC Swimmer of the Week Award this season, met the NCAA “B” qualifying standards in winning the 400 individual medley (4:17.42) and 200 butterfly (2:01.44). She also set a meet record in winning the 200 individual medley with a time of 2:03.26. Bosevska opened the meet with a win in the 500 free (4:49.56) and also swam on the Cavaliers’ winning 800 free relay team (7:31.39). Her time in the 500 free is the best in the ACC this season.
