Charlottesville, Va. ? The UVa women’s tennis team returns to action after nearly a two-week layoff. In their most recent action, the Cavaliers defeated Dartmouth on Feb. 24, by a score of 7-0. The Cavaliers head south to Miami, Fla., where they will take on Boston University on Saturday at 1p.m., followed by a match against the University of Miami, on March 11.

The Cavaliers are 7-2 on the season, and have won four of five spring matches.

The Cavaliers have three players with at least 10 wins in singles competition, with one of those players ranked in the top 130 by the ITA. Jennifer Tuchband remains at No. 51, and has won her last three matches. Her current streak started on Feb. 16, when she moved up to No. 1 singles in replace of Henriette Williams, who was out due to illness. She knocked off the No. 40 and No. 24 players in the country, and entered the ITA National rankings at No. 51. Tuchband is now 10-4 on the season, and unbeaten at No. 1 singles.

Freshman Marta Bechliwanis leads the team with a record of 13-3, and is followed by twin sister Dora, who has ten wins on the season. Amy O’Donnell appears to be recovered from previous shoulder injury that bothered her last year, is currently 9-2.

In doubles, the team of Tuchband and Marta Bechliwanis has posted a team-best seven wins this season. When paired together, the Canadian twins are 4-3, competing mostly at No. 2 doubles. O’Donnell teams with Christine Kim at No. 3 doubles, and are a perfect 3-0 at that spot of the lineup.

Following their trip to Florida, the Cavaliers return to the Sheridan Snyder Tennis Center to host Richmond (March 17) and a March 20th match with Florida State.
