Golf is Tied at 13th After 18 Holes at Furman Intercollegiate

GREENVILLE, S.C. – The University of Virginia men’s golf team is tied for 13th after the first 18 holes of the 33rd Annual Furman Intercollegiate on Friday.
Host Furman leads the field of 24 squads with a 291 (+3). East Carolina is second with a 293 (+5), while Coastal Carolina and Wofford are tied for third with a 296 (+8). The Cavaliers are tied for for 13th with Texas-Pan American, Francis Marion, and Marshall as each team carded a 309 (+21).
Individually, East Carolina’s Jonathan Hill and Furman’s David Sligh each fired a three-under 69 to pace the field.
UVa sophomore Jeremy Luce (Austin, Texas) shot a 76 (+4) to tie for 34th overall, while senior Steve Marino (Fairfax, Va.) and junior Justin Goodhue (Glastonbury, Conn.) follow by one stroke with a 77 (+5) to tie at 48th. Sophomore Kevin O’Connell (Potomac, Md.) shot a 79 (+7), and junior Thomas Lee (Guttenburg, N.J.) shot a 81 (+9). Playing as an individual, sophomore Eli Barnes (Bristol, COnn.) fired a 83 (+11).
Second round action tees off at 8 a.m. on Saturday, March 23 at the Furman University Golf Course.
