CHARLOTTESVILLE –
Cavalier Sports Marketing, the marketing and broadcast partner for University of Virginia athletics, has reached an agreement with WRVA radio (AM 1140) in Richmond, Va., to continue as an affiliate of the Virginia Sports Network.
WRVA, a member of the Clear Channel family of radio stations, will carry Virginia football and men’s basketball game broadcasts, Cavalier Call-In and the Cavalier Minute through the 2005-06 athletic year. In addition, 10 Virginia women’s basketball games and the Cavalier Minute will be carried on WRNL radio (AM 910) in Richmond.
The four-year agreement provides Virginia fans in Richmond, and 38 states after sunset, with access to programming being produced by the Virginia Sports Radio Network and Cavalier Sports Marketing. WRVA will also handle distribution of the programming to Virginia Sports Network affiliates using the latest in digital audio technology.
The agreement continues the relationship built over many years between Virginia athletics and the 50,000-watt clear channel station.
“We are thrilled to continue our broadcast partnership with Clear Channel and WRVA,” said Cavalier Sports Marketing Business Operations Manager, Brock A. Petrie. “The Virginia Sports Radio Network prides itself on partnering with affiliates that have built up equity in Virginia athletics and provide the greatest opportunity for UVa fans to follow one of the finest comprehensive athletics programs in the nation. Virginia athletics and WRVA radio are synonymous in Richmond and we are very proud of the affiliation.”
