GREENSBORO, N.C. –

University of Virginia women’s swimmer Cara Lane (Charlotte, N.C./Providence) has been selected as the Atlantic Coast Conference Women’s Co-Swimmer of the Week as announced Monday (January 14). Lane shares the award with North Carolina’s Jesse Perruquet.

Lane, a three-time ACC Swimmer of the Week selection last season, was victorious in the 500 and 1000 freestyles in helping lead the Cavaliers to a 178-110 victory over ACC rival N.C. State Saturday (January 12) at the UVa Aquatic and Fitness Center. Lane, a third-year, won the 1000 free by more than 18 seconds with an ACC season-best time of 9:50.91. She also won the 500 free with an NCAA “B” qualifying time of 4:54.06.

The Virginia women’s and men’s swimming and diving teams return to action on Friday, January 18 when they travel to Durham, N.C. for a 5:00 p.m. meet against Duke.
