GREENSBORO, N.C.– – University of Virginia junior forward/center Travis Watson (Brookneal, Va.) is the Atlantic Coast Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week for his play in Virginia’s games with North Carolina State and Clemson last week.

The 6-8 Watson scored 49 points and grabbed 22 rebounds in the two games. He was 14-24 (58.3 percent) from the field, including 1-1 from three-point range, and 20-23 (87.0 percent) from the free throw line in the two games. Watson also had six assists, five steals and one blocked shot in 70 minutes of action. He had a double-double in points and rebounds in each game.

In the Cavaliers’ 85-68 loss at North Carolina State on February 6, Watson scored a career-high 29 points and had 12 rebounds. He was 7-12 (58.3 percent) from the field and 15-17 (88.2 percent) from the free throw line. He also had three assists and three steals in 35 minutes of playing time.

In UVa’s 85-71 victory over Clemson on February 10 at University Hall, Watson scored 20 points and had 10 rebounds. He was 7-12 (58.3 percent) from the field, including 1-1 from three-point range, and 5-6 (83.3 percent) from the free throw line. He also had three assists, two steals and one blocked shot in 35 minutes of action.

Watson has 13 double-doubles on the season.
