No. 40 UVa Women's Tennis Blanks Dartmouth, 7-0

Charlottesville, Va. – The UVa women’s tennis team added another dominating win to its spring resume, defeating Dartmouth 7-0, at the Boars Head Inn Tennis Center on Sunday afternoon. The Cavaliers won all six singles matches, and two of three doubles matches.

Henriette Williams returned to action to pick up a 7-6 (1), 6-0 victory over Sonita Yardi. Williams improves to 5-4 on the season. No. 51 Jennifer Tuchband won her third consecutive match, defeating Carly Bashleben 6-1, 6-4. Tuchband now stands at 10-4 on the season, and is 5-2 at No. 2 singles.

Amy O’Donnell, ranked at No. 122 in the nation, improved to 9-2 with a 6-4, 6-2 win over Arden Fredeking at No. 3 singles. O’ Donnell also teamed with Christine Kim at No. 3 doubles, to clinch the doubles point and the shutout, as they defeated Lisa Borowsky and Jayme Ahmed, 8-3. Kim and O’Donnell are 3-2 in doubles this season.

At No. 4 singles, Dora Bechliwanis improved to 10-4, defeating Jayme Ahmed, 4-6, 6-4, (10-4). Marta Bechliwanis, who is ranked No. 138 in the country, picked up her team-best 13th victory of the season with a win over Arden Fredeking, 6-4, 6-2, at No. 5 singles. The freshman twins then combined to pick up a win at No. 2 doubles, defeating Fredeking and Catherine Crandall, 8-3. As a team, they are 4-3 in doubles this season.

The Cavaliers travel to Miami, Fla., where they will take on Boston University (March 9) and Miami (March 11), before return home to open play at the Sheridan Snyder Tennis Center on March 17, when they host Florida State at noon.
