Greensboro, N.C. – Virginia goalie Tillman Johnson was named the Atlantic Coast Conference’s Men’s Lacrosse Player of the Week for his stellar performances in leading the Cavaliers to two victories last week.

The 6-1, 195-pound sophomore from Annapolis, Md., opened the week with a 10-save effort in the Cavaliers’ 7-5 win over Notre Dame on March 12. The five goals represent the fewest goals Notre Dame has scored this season.

He followed that with another outstanding effort Sunday that kept the clamps on an explosive Towson offense in a 13-8 Virginia win. He made 13 saves while holding the Tigers to half their season scoring average. He didn’t allow a goal in the final 22 minutes of play and knocked aside all three fourth quarter shots he faced. He also led Virginia with seven ground balls.

For the week Johnson had a .639 save percentage and a 6.50 goals allowed average.
