BLACKSBURG, Va – The University of Virginia women’s tennis team concluded their play at the ITA Regional Championships Monday at Virginia Tech. Lauren Bruch (Lake Forest, Ill.) and Mariko Fritz-Krockow (Fairfax, Va.) were both defeated in the quarterfinals of singles play and the semifinals of doubles.
In singles play, Bruch, a No. 17-32 seed, fell in three sets to Emily Marker of Maryland, the No. 7 seed. Fritz-Krockow, a No. 9-16 seed, fell to another 9-16 seed, Nikki Ptak of Penn, in straight sets.
In doubles, Bruch and Fritz-Krockow lost to Virginia Tech’s team of Elissa Kinard and Felice Lam, the No. 7 seed, in the semifinals.
