Virginia's Crippen Named CollegeSwimming.com's Swimmer Of The Week

SOMERS, Wis. – University of Virginia second-year All-American swimmer Fran Crippen (Conshohocken, Pa./Germantown Academy) has been selected as CollegeSwimming.com’s Division I Men’s Swimmer of the Week for the week ending October 25. Crippen won a pair of events as UVa split a double-dual meet with defending NCAA champion Auburn and Penn State October 24-25 at the UVa Aquatic and Fitness Center.
In his first race of the season, Crippen won the 500 freestyle with a NCAA “B” time of 4:23.48. He also won the 1000 freestyle by more than 13 seconds with an impressive time of 8:58.13. Crippen placed third in the 400 individual medley (3:54.40) as well.
Crippen helped the Cavaliers defeat Penn State 243-110, while Auburn posted a 214-137 victory over UVa.
Virginia returns to action on Friday, October 31 when it travels to Columbia, S.C. for a 3:00 p.m. meet against South Carolina.
