Two Cavaliers Named Academic All-District

CHARLOTTESVILLE – Two members of the Virginia women’s soccer team earned Academic All-District honors as selected by CoSIDA. Third-year defender Gillian Hatch (Whitefish Bay, Wis.) was named to the first team, while fellow third year defender Jessica Trainor (Sparta, N.J.) was named to the second team.

Hatch, a 2002 second team All-District honoree, has played every minute of the season while contributing a career-high two goals and seven points. Trainor has also played every minute of the season for the Cavaliers and has one assist on the year. Both are members of a Cavalier defense that has allowed under one goal and eight shots per game this season.

With her first-team Academic All-District selection, Hatch is now a candidate for Academic All-America honors, which will be named later in the season.
