Cavalier Women's Soccer to Host First Two Rounds of NCAA Tournament

CHARLOTTESVILLE – The Virginia women’s team was selected to compete in the NCAA Tournament for the tenth consecutive season and will host first and second round play at Kl?ckner Stadium this weekend. The Cavaliers, the tournament’s No. 7 seed will play William & Mary in Friday’s opening round. In the other first round game at Kl?ckner, Villanova will meet Princeton.
“We are excited about the opportunity to be home,” stated Virginia head coach Steve Swanson. “We have had very enthusiastic and supportive crowds this year and that has contributed to our success. Hopefully that can continue in the NCAA Tournament.”
The Cavaliers (12-5-2) will meet the Tribe (14-6-2) in a rematch of a September 1 game at Kl?ckner, a 2-1 Virginia victory. William & Mary received an automatic berth into the tournament by winning last weekend’s CAA Tournament. Villanova (14-5-3) won the Big East Tournament last weekend, topping Boston College in penalty kicks in the final. Princeton (11-2-3) earned an at-large selection after their second place finish in the Ivy League.
The Virginia-William & Mary game will be at 4:30 p.m. on Friday with the Villanova-Princeton game to follow at 7:00 p.m. Sunday’s second round game will be at 1:00 p.m.
