CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The University of Virginia men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams will compete in a pair of dual meets this weekend. UVa travels to State College, Pa. to take on Penn State at noon on Saturday (October 30) in McCoy Natatorium. Less than 24 hours later, the Cavaliers host Atlantic Coast Conference rival Clemson on Sunday (October 31) at the UVa Aquatic and Fitness Center. The meet against the Tigers will begin at 10:00 a.m. and admission is free of charge.

The Penn State meet represents the Cavalier men’s first competition of the 2004-2005 season. UVa is ranked 12th in the first College Swim Coaches Association of America Top 25 Dual Meet Poll. The Nittany Lions opened their season with a 150-93 victory over West Virginia. UVa finished the 2003-2004 season with a 10-1 overall record and a 6-0 mark in the ACC. Virginia went on to win its school record sixth-consecutive ACC title and placed 13th at the NCAA Championships.

The Virginia women stand at 1-0 on the season, having defeated Miami 151-125 on Friday, October 22. The Cavaliers are ranked 20th in the CSCAA Poll. Penn State is also 1-0 on the season and ranked 12th in the CSCAA Poll. The Nittany Lions opened the season with a 182-58 win over West Virginia.

The Clemson men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams both stand at 2-1 overall and 1-1 in the ACC this season.
