HAMPTON, Va. – The University of Virginia wrestling team (3-2) will face the Ohio Bobcats (3-5-1) in the Cavaliers’ first dual match of the 25th Annual Virginia Duals. Virginia will face Ohio on Friday, January 14th at 9:00 AM in the first meeting between the Cavaliers and Bobcats in wrestling. The winner/loser of the UVa/OU match will face the winner/loser of the #6 Nebraska vs. North Carolina match. The Virginia Duals will take place at the Hampton Coliseum.
UVa is one of 16 schools that will compete in the National College Tournament at the Virginia Duals. The event is a double-elimination tournament in a dual match format. The tournament field consists of: American, Cal-State Bakersfield, #19 Edinboro, Indiana, Lock Haven, Old Dominion, North Dakota State, Rider, The Citadel, Buffalo, #12 Missouri, #6 Nebraska, North Carolina, Ohio, Tennessee-Chattanooga and Virginia.
Last year, UVa went 0-2 at the Virginia Duals after falling by the score of 32-10 to the then #6 ranked Nebraska Cornhuskers before dropping a close 19-18 decision to the Cleveland State Vikings.
