University of Virginia first -years Janne’a Bridgeford and Tosin Oluwole led a 1-2 finish in the 60, leading the Cavaliers to five individual titles at the Father Diamond Invitational held at George Mason University in Fairfax, Va. Meggie Schuelke (high jump) and Tomika Ferguson (triple jump) also took home top honors while school record holders Kellen Blassingame and David Sullivan won the 500m and pole vault events, respectively.
Bridgeford also led a 4-6-8 finish in the 200m as Tiffany Roberts (25.93) and Oluwole (26.36) all finished in the top-eight in that event. Roberts medaled in the 400m dash (58.33), just ahead of teammate Sherece Dyer, who took sixth (61.35). The Cavaliers took a pair of runner-up finished in both the 500m and 1000m runs as Ashley Gore ran a 1:17.05 at 500 and Sara Ensrud nipped teammate Huma Husain in the 1K with a 3:00.33.
Schuelke and teammate Rachel Marks went 1-2 in the high jump with Schuelke clearing 1.70m and Marks clearing 1.60m. Kathryn Pettine took second in the pole vault with a 3.35m while Collette DeBenedetto took fourth in the long jump with a 5.27m.
Tomika Ferguson led a 1-3-5 finish in the triple jump, as Katie Tershel hit a two-foot personal best with an 11.93m, taking third while DeBenedetto took fifth with an 11.24m.
Sullivan and Greg Blair went 1-4 in the pole vault as Sullivan leapt 5.00m and Blair cleared 4.55m. Trumaine Pendleton finished in the top-eight in both the long jump and the triple jump, taking sixth in the long (6.20m) and seventh in the triple (13.32m). Shadion Buckley took fourth in the long jump with a 6.59m. Walker Anderson took fourth in the weight throw with a 15.07m.
Reuben Jones took fifth in the 60 (6.96) and sixth in the 200m (23.19), just ahead of Kevin Carson, who took seventh in 23.25. Carson also finished fifth in the 400m in 51.86.
Kellen Blassingame led a 1-3 finish in the 500m, running 1:05.81 while Zach Davis ran 1:06.81. McGavock Dunbar ran a 2:28.89 and took home runner-up honors in the 1000m. Ryan Neuhart and Dave Vitto finished 5-6 in the mile, running 4:23.58 and 4:31.41 respectively. The 3200m relay team finished second in 7:44.77.
