Virginia Swimming And Diving Teams To Host North Carolina

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The nationally-ranked University of Virginia men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams will compete against Atlantic Coast Conference rival North Carolina Saturday (January 22) at the UVa Aquatic and Fitness Center. The men’s meet begins at 1:00 p.m., and the women’s meet will commence at 4:00 p.m. Admission to both meets is free of charge.

The Cavalier men are ranked 10th in the College Swim Coaches Association of America Dual Meet Top 25 Poll and stand at 7-0 overall and 2-0 in the ACC. UVa is coming off a 135-103 victory over 15th-ranked Tennessee and a 148-84 victory over LSU on January 15. North Carolina’s men stand 7-1 overall and 3-0 in the ACC and are ranked 19th in the nation. The Tar Heels lead the all-time series 37-13, but Virginia has won the last six dual meets in the series, including a 211-89 victory on January 25 in Chapel Hill last season.

The Virginia women stand at 8-0 overall and 3-0 in the ACC. In the women’s CSCAA Dual Meet Top 25 Poll, UVa and North Carolina are tied at 15th. The Tar Heels are 8-1 overall and 4-0 in the ACC this season. North Carolina holds a 22-6 lead in the all-time series and has won the last two dual meets in the series. The Tar Heels posted a 171-129 win over Virginia on January 25 in Chapel Hill last season.
