Brown, Brooks Earn Honors From Touchdown Club of Richmond

RICHMOND, Va. – Virginia’s Elton Brown (Hampton, Va.) and Ahmad Brooks (Woodbridge, Va.) were honored by the Touchdown Club of Richmond at its 42nd Annual Awards banquet on Jan. 20.

Brown was selected as the Offensive Lineman of the Year, while Brooks was named Defensive Back/Linebacker of the Year.

The annual event honors the 2004 Award Winners, as determined by the club, and the All Metro Football Team, as selected by the Richmond Times-Dispatch.

The Touchdown Club of Richmond is a Richmond based football organization that exists to promote the best interests of the game of football and sports in general, under the guidance of elected officers with the predominant purpose being to recognize worthy prep athletes for their accomplishments and to encourage them to continue their education and athletic careers.

A senior, Brown was a consensus All-American in 2004. Awarded the Jacobs Blocking Trophy as the best blocker in the ACC for the second consecutive season, the first-team All-ACC honoree started in each of his four seasons in Charlottesville.

A sophomore, Brooks earned first-team All-America honors. A finalist for the Butkus Award as the nation’s best linebacker, the first-team All-ACC honoree earned ACC Defensive Lineman of the Week honors following UVa’s win over Maryland.

Virginia opens the 2005 season with Western Michigan on Sept. 3.
