GREENSBORO, N.C.- – Virginia senior LaTonya Blue (Baltimore, Md.) earned ACC Player of the Week honors, the conference announced on Monday.
In UVa’s only action on the week, the 5-11 guard paced the Cavaliers with a career-high 26 points and season-high 12 rebounds en route to her first double-double of the season (sixth in her career) in the 70-67 win over Virginia Tech last Friday. For her efforts, Blue was named the Fox Sports Player of the Game.
After 20 contests, Blue stands second in team scoring with 11.3 ppg and a team-best 5.2 apg. She is on track to be the next Cavalier to net 1,000 career points. After 109 games, she has 990 points, just 10 shy of the milestone.
Virginia (15-5, 4-2) travels to No. 24/19 Florida State (18-3, 5-2) on Monday, Jan 31 for a 7 p.m. game.
