The University of Virginia women’s lacrosse team (14-4) has accepted a bid to the NCAA women’s lacrosse championships. The Cavaliers, ranked seventh in the latest polls, will play an opening round game against Johns Hopkins on Thursday, May 12.
Virginia has never played Johns Hopkins in women’s lacrosse. The Blue Jays are members of the American Lacrosse Conference and this is the ninth year that JHU has fielded a team that competes at the Division I level. The Blue Jays finished the regular season with a 14-10 win over Georgetown, giving the Hop an 11-5 regular season record.
The winner of the Virginia-Hopkins game will take on the winner of the Boston University – Colgate game on Sunday, May 15. The national semifinals will take place on Friday, May 20 at the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis. The finals will be held on Sunday, May 22.
