Charlottesville, Va. – The University of Virginia hosts Albany in the first round of the 2005 NCAA Men’s Lacrosse Tournament at Klöckner Stadium. The day and time have not been determined and are expected to be announced early in the week.
Tickets are $ 6 for adults and $ 4 for youth 18-and-under, senior citizens and students of the participating schools with ID. Tickets will be sold at the ticket windows at Klöckner Stadium beginning one hour prior to faceoff.
Virginia is the tournament’s fourth seed and has a 9-3 overall record this season. This is the Cavaliers’ 28th tournament appearance overall, second behind Johns Hopkins (34). Virginia won the national championship two years ago and has received a bid in 12 of the last 13 seasons.
Albany secured its third consecutive tournament bid by claiming the America East’s automatic bid following Saturday’s 16-7 win over Stony Brook in the conference’s championship game. The Great Danes are ranked 17th in the current coaches’ poll with a 10-5 overall record.
This is the first meeting between the two schools.
The winner of this game faces the winner of the Delaware at Navy game in the quarterfinals at Johns Hopkins University on Saturday (May 21).
