Sacramento, Calif–The University of Virginia’s Inge Jorgensen, a four-time NCAA qualifier and a four-time ACC Champion, is the top qualifier in the javelin for the finals in the NCAA Track and Field Championships, which are being held in Sacramento, California. Jorgensen, who has earned two All-American citations in her career, was ranked fourth coming into the weekend. Her throw of 172′ 10″ (52.68) was 16 inches better than the second place throw, and 5′ 8″ farther than the third-best throw. Jorgense will compete in the finals on Friday, June 10 at 11:00 pm (EST). Teammate Annie Bobiak also competed in the javelin, throwing a 144′ 4″ (44.00m).
“I felt really good,” said Jorgensen. “My timing is really coming together, and I am excited to compete tomorrow.”
David Sullivan, the school record holder in the pole vault, cleared 16′ 4.75 (5.00m) and finished 14th in the qualifying round.
Erin Crawford, the school record holder in the 400 intermediate hurdles, is scheduled to compete later tonight.
Billie Jo Grant will compete in the discus finals tomorrow (June 10) at 3:00 (EST) while Kellen Blassingame will compete in the semifinals of the 400m dash at 10:25 (EST).
