Jarrett Chirico Wins ITA Summer Circuit Event

BLOOMSBURG, Pa. – University of Virginia men’s tennis player Jarrett Chirico (Sarasota, Fla.) won the singles championship last weekend at the ITA Collegiate Summer Circuit East Region tournament at Bloomsburg University. Chirico, the tournament’s top seed, won all five of his matches in straight sets to capture the title.

After a wins over unseeded players in the first two rounds, Chirico defeated fifth seeded Kyle Doppelt of Cornell in the quarterfinals, sixth seeded Jonathan Leslie of Princeton in the semifinals, and eighth seeded David Stone of North Carolina in the finals. In doubles, Chirico teamed with Jason Cole of Ferris State to reach the finals.

The ITA Collegiate Summer Circuit is made up of six regional circuits (East, Southeast, Midwest, Central, Southwest and West) for collegiate. Each region consists of four consecutive tournaments played during the month of July before a national tournament held in August. Each tournament consists of a men’s singles and doubles and women’s singles and doubles draw.
