VIRGINIA NOTES

Senior nose tackle Kwakou Robinson carried the flag to lead the team onto the field.

Redshirt freshman Cedric Peerman caught his first touchdown pass on a one-yard reception in the second quarter. Peerman also had his first multi-touchdown game of his career.

Senior wide receiver Ottowa Anderson joined the captains for the coin toss replacing Marques Hagans who has elected to remain in the locker room with his teammates this season.

Junior safety Ryan Best made the first appearance of his career on special teams and in the secondary. He was the starting goalie on the men’s soccer team as a freshman in 2003.

Virginia wore blue pants for the first time since wearing blue on the road in 2000 in George Welsh’s last season as head coach.

Junior wide receiver Deyon Williams finished with a career-high seven receptions. He had five in the first quarter.

This was the first time UVA threw as many as three interceptions in a game since the Wake Forest game in 2003, a span of 22 games.

Senior Connor Hughes kicked a 26-yard field goal to give the Cavs a 17-7 lead with 9:30 left to play in the third quarter. He kicked the game-winning field goal, a 19-yarder, with one second remaining in the contest to seal the win.

Junior tailback Michael Johnson had a career-long 70-yard touchdown run in the third quarter.
