Today’s Game: The Cavaliers look to improve to 4-0 in the ACC for the first time in history as they host Miami Sunday at Klockner Stadium. Virginia is coming off three 1-0 wins over ranked opponents to open conference play, capped by a win over No. 10 Florida State Thursday night. Miami enters the game on a four match losing streak, including dropping each of the first three ACC games of the season. Thursday night, the Hurricanes fell 5-0 at Virginia Tech.
The Series: This is the second all-time meeting between the schools. In the only previous meeting, Virginia downed Miami 4-0 last season at Klockner Stadium.
Strong ACC Start: The Cavaliers are 3-0 to open the ACC season for only the third time in school history (1998, 1999). Virginia has never opened a conference season with a 4-0 record.
ACC Streak: Dating back to last season, the Cavaliers have won their last six regular season ACC contests, outscoring opponents 11-0 in those games. That streak ties the longest ACC regular season winning streak in school history set in 2002-03 (final four games of 2002, first two games of 2003).
Three In a Row Against Ranked Opponents: The Cavaliers accomplished a first for the program over the past two weeks. With wins at No. 15 Wake Forest, at No. 7 Duke, and over No. 10 Florida State, it marked the first time UVa has ever beaten ranked opponents in three consecutive games.
