CHARLOTTESVILLE – First-year forward Jess Rostedt (Kent, Ohio) earned two national honors on Wednesday, being named to a pair of National Teams of the Week. She was named to the Soccer America Team of the Week and the Soccer Buzz Elite Team of the Week for her role in a pair of Cavalier ACC wins last week.
On Thursday, Rostedt led the Cavaliers to their third consecutive win over a ranked opponent as her 67th minute goal lifted Virginia to a 1-0 win over No. 10 Florida State. On Sunday, Rostedt assisted on Sarah Curtis’ (Yellow Springs, Ohio) goal as Virginia downed Miami 1-0.
The accolades by both publications are the first of Rostedt’s career. On Monday, she was also named ACC Player of the Week. On the season, Rostedt leads the Cavaliers with six goals and 16 points.
No. 5 ranked Cavaliers (9-2-1, 4-0-0 ACC) return to action on Thursday as they travel to top-ranked North Carolina (12-0-0, 4-0-0 ACC). Game time at Fetzer Field is 7:00 p.m.
