DURHAM, N.C. – The Virginia men’s golf team finished 14th at the Coca-Cola Duke Classic on Monday.
Duke captured the team championship with a 10-under 854. Northwestern and Coastal Carolina tied for second with a nine-under 855 each. The Cavaliers shot a 298 in the final round for an 887 (+23) total.
Coastal Carolina’s Dustin Johnson fired a 15-under 201 to capture medalist honors. He shot three rounds of a five-under 67. Three players tied for second with an eight-under 208 apiece.
Senior Brad Tilley (Chappaqua, N.Y.) paced the Cavaliers with a two-under 214 to tie for 15th. He fired a season-low 68 in the final round. In his first event as a Cavalier, junior Andrea Signor (Vittorio Veneto, Italy) tied for 43rd with a 222 (+6). Junior Eamonn McLoughlin (Amityville, N.Y.), shot a 224 (+8), while senior Carter Henderson (Nashville, Tenn.) shot a 229 (+13). Freshman Conrad Von Borsig (Swarthmore, Pa.) rounded out the Virginia scoring with a 230 (+14).
Virginia will participate in The Ridges Invitational on Oct. 15-16 in Johnson City, Tenn.
