Huffman Named a Soccer America MVP

CHARLOTTESVILLE – Virginia women’s soccer fourth-year midfielder Sarah Huffman (Flower Mound, Texas) was named one of 11 Soccer America MVPs this season the magazine announced Thursday. Huffman earns the honor for the second consecutive season, joining Gayle Smith (87-88) and Amanda Cromwell (90-91) as the only Cavaliers to earn the honor twice.
Huffman was one of six repeat selections from last season, joining Lori Chalupny of North Carolina, Erin McLeod and Tiffany Weimer of Penn State, Christine Sinclair of Portland, and Katie Thorlakson of Notre Dame.
This season, Huffman led the Cavaliers in assists with eight while also scoring four goals. She ended her Cavalier career with 28 career assists, the second most in school history. She was a third-team NSCAA All-American, a first-team NSCAA All-Mid Atlantic Region selection, a first-team All-ACC honoree for the third consecutive season, and was a semifinalist for the Hermann Trophy.
