Three Virginia field hockey student-athletes were honored by the ACC for their performance in the classroom and on the pitch by their selection to the All-ACC Academic Field Hockey Team, as announced by the conference. Cavaliers Katherine Blair, Allison Flynn and Mia Link were all selected to the team by the conference. All three also earned All-Regional honors by the National Field Hockey Coaches’ Association, and Blair was also honored as a third-team All-American by womensfieldhockey.com.
Blair was the starting keeper for the Cavaliers and earned third-team All-American honors by womensfieldhockey.com in 2005. She was also named to the first-team All-State Field Hockey team in 2005. Blair was also the starting keeper for the USA Junior National team that took seventh at the Junior World Cup in September, the highest-ever finish for the USA in that event.
Link was also a member of that record-setting team. An All-ACC performer in 2005, Link earned second-team All-State honors in 2005 and was a second-team All-Regional performer this season as well.
Flynn also earned second-team All-Regional honors and was named to the second team All-State in 2005. She led the team in assists and had two game-winning goals, including the one in extra time in the upset of James Madison.
