Virginia To Play Virginia Tech In First Round Of ACC Tournament

CHARLOTTESVILLE – The University of Virginia men’s basketball team plays Virginia Tech in the first round of the 2006 Atlantic Coast Conference Tournament on Thursday (March 9) at the Greensboro Coliseum in Greensboro, N.C. The game will be televised by ESPN.
Virginia is the tournament’s seventh seed after finishing the 2005-06 regular season with an overall record of 14-13 and a 7-9 mark in the ACC. Virginia Tech is the tournament’s tenth seed. The Hokies finished the regular season with an overall record of 14-15 and a 4-12 mark in the ACC. The Cavaliers won the two regular season games between the teams.
The winner of Thursday’s game plays second-seeded North Carolina in a quarterfinal game on Friday (March 10) at 7:00 p.m.
