Three Virginia track athletes ran regional qualifying marks and Ryan Foster hit a provisional mark in the 10K to pace the Cavalier effort at the Stanford Invitational this weekend in Palo Alto. Foster’s 29:16.79 is not only a personal best and a provisional mark but also ranks him as the No. 2 all-time performer in school history at 10K. Teammate Andrew Dumm finished just behind him in a personal best 29:34:46, and Dumm’s time moves him to No. 3 all-time behind Foster and school record holder Mike Cotton.
The 5K runners were also outstanding, with Kara Scanlin, Andy Biladeau and Jan Foerster all running qualifying marks with personal best times. Scanlin ran a 16:36.38, while Biladeau finished just ahead of Foerster, 14:06.73 to 14:09.08. Biladeau’s time moves him to the No. 4 spot all-time in Virginia history, while Foerster checks in at No. 7.
Kevin McHale ran a 3:50.56 on Friday in a personal best time, while Alex Tatu (3:48.52) and Andrew Jesien (3:49.53) just missed regional qualifying marks in the 1500 on Saturday.
