UVa Women's Golfers in Seventh Place at JMU

Harrisonburg, VA – The Virginia women’s golf squad’s “Blue Team” is in seventh place after the opening round of play at James Madison’s Bonnie Hoover Invitational at the Lakeview Golf Course. The Cavaliers shot 317 during the first round. Georgetown leads the field by three shots at 303.
Due to rainy conditions, only one of the two scheduled rounds was played Saturday. The tournament will be reformatted as a 36-hole event and the final round is scheduled to start Sunday at 9 a.m.
Virginia’s top first-day finisher was Sally Shonk in 12th place at 6-over 78. Lindsay Robinson is tied with teammate Kristin Simpson for 19th at 79. Ashley Mayo is 35th at 81 while Kira Mayo is 68th after carding a 90.
William and Mary’s Erika Oldenkamp leads the field at 2-under 70. She was the only player to break par during the round. Georgetown’s Nicole Hayashi and Princeton’s Marlowe Boukis are tied for second at 73.
