CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – – Virginia Left-handed pitcher/first baseman Sean Doolittle (Taberbacle, N.J.) has been named to the 2006 Louisville Slugger All-American second team utility player announced by the Collegiate Baseball Newspaper. It is the second All-America honor of the season for the sophomore.
Doolittle was named the 2006 Atlantic Coast Conference Player of the Year. He is 11-1 with a 1.87 ERA while holding opponents to a .187 batting avg. He has 103 strikeouts in 86.2 innings. Offensively, he is hitting .314 with 66 hits, 12 doubles and four home runs. Doolittle is two walks away from tying the school record for walks in a season with 52. He owns a .446 on-base percentage. Doolittle is one of only four pitchers in UVa history to win at least 10 games.
Doolittle was named to the College Baseball Foundation’s All-America team. He also was named ACC Player of the Year by SEBaseball.com.
