Virginia’s Billie Jo Grant uncorked a throw of 171′ 06″ to vault her into sixth place in the discus competition at the NCAA Track and Field Championships today (June 9) in Sacramento, California. Grant, who also earned All-American honors last year, was seventh going into the finals where, on her second throw in the final round, threw the 171′ 6″ to take sixth place, her highest career finish at nationals.
In the women’s intermediate hurdles, Crawford became the first Virginia woman to run under 57 seconds, recording a 56.93 and qualifying for the finals. She will run in the finals at 12:52 (PT) on Saturday (June 10) and has already earned All-American honors, regardless of her finish tomorrow.
