Four Cavaliers Named to US Swimming International Rosters

CHARLOTTESVILLE – Four Cavaliers have been named to the preliminary rosters for the United States in upcoming international competitions USA Swimming announced on Friday. Juniors Pat Mellors (Pittsburgh, Pa.) and Ryan Hurley (Potomac, Md.), along with 2006 graduate Fran Crippen, were named to the 2007 World University Games team, while 2006 graduate Brielle White was named to the 2007 Pan American Games team.
The 2007 World University Games will take place next July in Bangkok, Thailand. Mellors will compete in the 400-meter individual medley. He competed at the 2005 World University Games in Izmir, Turkey, finishing fourth in the 400 I.M. Hurley will compete in the 200-meter breaststroke, and Crippen will compete 400-meter freestyle at the games.
The Pan American Games will take place next August in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. White will compete 100-meter backstroke at the event.
The rosters for the games were selected based upon the results of the 2006 ConocoPhillips National Swimming Championships, which was held last month in Irvine, Calif.
