CHARLOTTESVILLE – The University of Virginia men’s tennis team concluded play Sunday at the UVa Fall Invitational at the Snyder Tennis Center by winning three flight championships. Somdev Devvarman (Chennai, India) won the Blue Singles draw and teamed with Treat Huey (Alexandria, Va.) to win the Blue Doubles draw. In the Red Doubles draw, the team of Milo Johnson (Tulsa, Okla.) and Leif Sunderland (Malibu, Calif.) took the title.
Devvarman, who was the two-time defending singles champion at the event, won his third consecutive title by defeating Martin Sayer of Radford, 7-6, 6-3. Devvarman shares the top honor with Todd Paul of Wake Forest, who won the Orange Singles draw, the other top level flight.
Devvarman and Huey took top doubles honors by winning the Blue Doubles draw with an 8-3 win over Brady Crosby and Tim Bradshaw of Western Michigan.
In the Red Doubles draw, the team of Sunderland and Johnson defeated Luka Rister and Mehdi Benhammou of Radford 8-6 in the final.
Also playing on Sunday for the Cavaliers was Lee Singer (Laguna Niguel, Calif.), who won the Red Singles consolation final, defeating Brandon Corace of Virginia Tech.
