CHARLOTTESVILLE – Virginia women’s soccer sophomore forward Jess Rostedt (Kent, Ohio) was honored with a pair of National Team of the Week honors on Wednesday. Soccer America and Soccer Buzz magazines both selected Rostedt for their team of the week.
Rostedt, who was selected as ACC Co-Player of the Week on Monday, was honored for her role in a pair of Cavalier wins last week. She scored the game-winning goals in both Virginia’s 2-1 win over Wake Forest and 1-0 win over Duke. The victories gave Virginia a 2-0-0 start to ACC play for the fourth consecutive season.
On the year, Rostedt leads the team in scoring with five goals and two assists for 12 points, despite playing in only six of the Cavaliers’ ten games this season. She missed the first four games of the year playing for the United States at the U-20 World Championships in Russia.
Rostedt and the No. 11 Cavaliers return to action on Thursday, September 28 as they visit No. 3 Florida State. Game time is 7 p.m. and the match will be broadcast online by ACCSelect.
